Replacing Your Teeth with Mini Dental Implants

Posted .

Many people have successfully restored their smiles with dental implants. They are strong and easy to care for, and they blend in well with the rest of your smile. However, some people may be prevented from having regular implants because of the condition of their gums or jawbone, or other health considerations. For some people, standard implants are simply too expensive.

Mini dental implants are similar to regular implants in that they are also permanent, but they are smaller, and so smaller holes will need to be drilled into your jaw in order to place them. The recovery time is less than with traditional implants, and in some cases are about half the cost of regular implants. They also feature the sturdiness of traditional implants, and will not slip or shift the way that dentures might for some people.

You will still need to talk with your dentist about your medical history and your medications before starting the procedure. Once the mini implants have been placed, you will need to brush and floss them just as you do your regular teeth, and see your dentist for your regular appointments. Just like regular implants, mini implants depend on healthy gums to be successful and your oral hygiene regimen is key in maintaining the health of your mouth.
